"I am that very place where creation works upon itself."
— Thomas Tranströmer
When Thomas Tranströmer received the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2011, people in the media seemed to compete over their favourite Tranströmer quotation.
Apparently, I have intellectual ambitions too. I decided I ought to have a favourite quote of my own.
At first, I couldn't find one.
Then I came across the line above.
I stopped.
Why?
I'm still not entirely sure.
Perhaps because, in a single sentence, it lets me see myself as both an individual being and, at the same time, part of something much bigger.
I don't know whether Thomas intended that meaning.
I only know that this morning, it spoke to me.
This line is from the poem (swedish) Posteringen . Tranströmer describes a situation while doing military service and what the comes to his mind . He also says that he’s anxious, stubborn and confused. ”But to be where you are. And to wait” says Tranströmer. It’s a beautiful poem, I fully understand that you have choosen that line.🙏
