The Third Noble Truth

The First Noble Truth tells us that "Life is Suffering." The Second Noble Truth explains that suffering arises from the attachements of desire. The Third Noble Truth reveals that suffering can be ended.

This is good news! If we have come to the conclusion that there is some truth in what the Buddha says—and if we have recognized from our own experience that we seem to be caught in an endlessly repeated cycle of pain—then this is indeed good news.

Yes, we suffer, but there is a way out. Let us be absolutely clear: the Buddha does not speak of a temporary improvement; no, he talks about the end of suffering! Being free—liberated—reaching Nirvana is not a small thing, and here it is said to be absolutely possible.
