The Second Noble Truth

The first Noble Truth tells us that due to the impermanence of contentment, suffering is unavoidable.

The second Noble Truth displays the root-mechanics behind our yearning. In other words, the root-cause to our suffering.

Here it is said that our "wants", our cravings, our desires, are the root-cause of discontent. We always want something more. We are full of desire, but our desires are never fully met. We want something more—or something less—whatever it is, we always want a change for the better. Hence, we are never truly satisfied—and hence we suffer.

That is basically the second Noble Truth.

Still pretty grim—and quite a dilemma one must say. We want to do better—but the "wanting" itself

causes our problems to arise.
