The Psychology of Man

The complexity of being human can sometimes feel overwhelming. In fact, we might say it is always overwhelming; however, we often turn down the volume and focus on the aspects within our control.

Yet, it is important to recognize that not everything is within our control. We are influenced by our fellow human beings, by various circumstances, by memories, by internal desires, by fears, and by hopes and dreams.

In short, we are psychological creatures, and we must navigate all that this entails.

So, why do I bring this up in a blog series subtitled "Reaching Enlightenment"?

It can be argued that we are on a journey, and every journey should have a goal. The term "enlightenment" implies liberation from human bondage, which can largely be attributed to our psychological tendencies.

It seems that psychology serves as both our means of journeying and the burden we need to shed on our path to liberation.

In other words, we must understand ourselves in order to let go of ourselves.

I’m not sure if this reasoning has made us any wiser; perhaps I just needed to lighten my burden.

Take care out there...
