Sometimes I Must Surrender

I lift my arms to the sky — I close my eyes — and I let the rain wash over me.

I have my duties. I have my tasks to fulfill. Yet there are moments in life when there is nothing more I can do — moments when I simply must let go and surrender to forces greater than myself.

Strange as it may sound, when I can do this without resistance, I do not feel diminished. Rather, something within me becomes renewed.

I fall to my knees for a while — but then somehow, I rise again.
