The word spirituality often makes people uneasy. To some, it suggests vague ideas, wishful thinking, or beliefs detached from reality. Yet the human longing to understand what lies beyond immediate perception is anything but new.
Since the dawn of history, human beings have asked the deeper questions: Why are we here? What is consciousness? Is there meaning behind existence? Some of these explorations became religions. Others became philosophy, poetry, or personal reflection.
Today, more and more people describe themselves as SBNR — Spiritual But Not Religious. Perhaps this points toward a growing wish to explore life’s deeper dimensions freely, without necessarily belonging to a specific doctrine or institution.
And maybe that is something we should not dismiss too quickly. The mystery of existence is still here, waiting to be explored.
