A balancing act

Our bodies commits an incredible around the clock balancing-act, - without ever questioning it. It just does what needs to be done, over and over again, an autonomic dance of many facets.
I got introduced to homeostasis the other day, I never really tought about it before. Well, I have had moments when I marveled over the fact that we can walk around in the cold, - and in the heat, with our body temprature unaffected and intact! That is quite amazing, - or what do you say?
But besides, I have not thought of homeostasis. And why should I? That is actually the thing about it. We do not need to know how our bodies work, it works without our knowing.
Homeostsis is a self-regulatory system and does not really need us... Ah, but that came out strange. If we were not there, why would the body bother to go through all the hardships needed to stay in balance?
And then again - of course - it does! The heart starts pumping already as a fetus, before the brain has started to evolve. The autonomous body functions is in place before the thinking mind has entered the body.
Mind and body, two separate entities sharing the space. One cannot live without the other. They mutually support each another in the swirling dance we call life.
Who will outlive the other? It's a shared journey of many wonders it seems.
This blog-post, I must admit, surely isn't thought through. But that is how my brain works at times. I hear someting, and it stirs a question within me. I don´t know always know the answer, like right now for instance, but I figure that since the question arouse, there will also be an answer waiting a bit down the line.
I give myself a rain-check on this one, and promise to get back to the subject one of these days.
Homeostasis has a fascinating story to tell, - I'm sure of it.
