This morning, I came across an astrology article describing the influence of the current planetary positions. The read was both intriguing and encouraging, suggesting that we are entering a period well suited for bold and significant change. Somehow, it made sense. The world is facing change—at least according to what we hear in the news. And on a personal level, my mind is made up; I am definitely aiming for change.

So when I stepped outside for a brisk walk on the cold winter morning and was greeted by a planetary beauty—the February 1st Full Moon on one side and a beautiful red sunrise on the other—I couldn’t help but reach for my camera. I know that neither the sun nor the moon are planets—but the Earth most certainly is—and even if the pictures do not do the moment justice, it was a beautiful, planetary start to the month.

This blog is not about astrology. I admit I find it fascinating at times, but it is certainly not my field of expertise. Nevertheless, the planets help us keep track of time and have always played an important role in the ongoing human project of making sense of our world.

Yesterday, I announced a shift in intent for the forthcoming month. If the blogs of January were versatile and varied, looking both forward and backward, the main topic of February is going to deal with one subject and one subject only: the aspect of infinity.

Infinity—what is that? We can call it an aspect. We can call it a notion. We can call it a phenomenon. We can call it an idea. We can call it whatever we want, but we cannot change its nature. The aspect of infinity—the infinite nature of reality—is both unchangeable and undeniable. It is the simplest of facts, yet almost ungraspable to the human mind.

During the month of February, I will share some of its most intriguing features, likely to make you see some of the world’s most enduring enigmas in a new light.
