Yesterday we were at the sea, fishing for crabs in the seaweed.
As might be expected, crabs have their particular ways of behaving.
Our grandson, who is at the age of asking why, wanted to know:
Why do they behave the way they do?
That is indeed a question I have asked myself, in various ways, over the years.
And I wanted to answer him:
Perhaps it is for the love of life.
Why do we do all the things we do?
Why do we struggle and strive?
Why do we go to such lengths to find happiness?
Perhaps it is for the love of life.
And why do we love life?
That might be the one question we cannot answer.
But then again, does it need an answer?
Yesterday, in the company of my loving family, loving life was easy.
Even without knowing why.
