Bamse

In Sweden there is this cartoon hero called Bamse. It is aimed at the youngest. Bamse is the strongest bear in the world, but he also has the kindest of hearts. When one is very strong, he says, one must be kind.

And isn't that right. If one is very strong, and at the same time unkind, then one can do tremendous harm. Bamse deals with the bad guys, and that we all must do from time to time, but he keeps good faith even in the villains, always holding the door open—welcoming them back in as soon as they cleaned up their act.

Yes, it is a childrens fairy; the "real" world outside our windows is rough, no doubt, and problems should not be taken lightly—but we must not forget the kindness of the heart. Strenght and kindness together—that is what we need. We should definitely gather our strenght, but for the right reasons. It should not be for egoic power, but for the common good. That is a responsebility that we all share, and it needs to be remembered in these times of turmoil and fear.
