An Old Soldier

I once saw a documentary about the life and death of John Lennon. At the end of the program, Yoko Ono said quietly:

“He was my friend, my lover, and my partner — and he was an old soldier who fought with me.”

And old soldier — that expression stayed with me.

Not because life should be a war, but because lasting relationships are not built only through easy days. It includes walking beside another human being through hard times, disappointments, misunderstandings, and the changing winds of life itself.

And still remaining.

Still being loyal.

Still standing by one another.

There is something deeply beautiful in that.
