As I came out of the initial moment of wordless overwhelm, one single sentence formed in my mind: “Infinity exists”, followed by “Existence is infinite”.

It may not sound very special, but let me tell you that it is. In one single stroke the contradicting multiplicity of this world gets replaced by one single explanation.

The moment we grasp the significance the concept of infinity holds, when we allow this all-encompassing truth to sink in, we access the master key of understanding reality at its very deepest level.

For starters, it answers the why-question. So, what is the why-question? The why-question, simply put, is the branch of inquiry that science leaves aside. Science never asks why, not in a fundamental sense, science focuses entirely on how things and events has come to be.

That is of course an attitude that yields amazing results, but it has the disadvantage of leaving us in the blue when it comes to answering the ontological, at the same time common-sense-riddle, namely why this amazing occurrence called existence exists at all.

At this point I can hear some of you say that we don’t need to know why but let us be honest about it and admit that deep inside the riddle lingers. We all want to answer the Big Why, we all want to know why this world exists, and the concept of infinity gives the answer.
